The Western Sydney Intellectual Disability Support Group recently launched the Community Living for All project. Taken from the introductory booklet;
For many years, the Support Group has been advocating for the right of people living in large residential institutions such as Metro Residences, to live in and be part of the community. There have been some success such as the closure of the Marsden Rehabilitation Centre but progress has been glacially slow.
“Community Living for All” is a proposal, developed by the Support Group, which describes HOW the people presently living in Metro Residences can successfully achieve their right to live in and be part of the community.
Because the full proposal is quite a technical document, the Support Group has also prepared two additional documents:
1. An introduction to “Community Living for All” – this document and 2. Questions and Answers for Support Group members, which addresses in more details concerns that members are likely to have.
