On Thursday 6th and 7th May 2010 Dr. Vivienne Riches and Professor Patricia O'Brien were invited to give keynote addresses at the NDS Accommodation & Social Participation Conference at Jupiters Casino, Brisbane.  Viviennne's  keynote entitled,  Managing Transitions set the scene for the conference covering the different stages of transition that we all face in our lives.  Vivienne outlined the types of support that can assist in making transition smoother.  This paper was relevant when placed in the context of the transformation that is occuring within services associated with accommodation.

Professor Patricia O'Brien followed with a keynote on the second day entitled, Accommodation support: where are we heading? that outlined alternative types of accommodation that are being signalled in both Australian research, policy and practice documents.  She drew upon models of alternative commmunity support and individualised funding packages that are being introduced in both Victoria and Western Australia.
