Australia's first 'The Big Event' was held on Friday 27th August at Penrith Panthers.
Endorsed by InControl Australia and hosted by Sunnyfield, the expo-style event focused on 'supporting people to get a life... not just a service'.
Speakers included John Walsh (Productivity Commission), Peter De Natris (ADHC), Robbie Williams (Julia Farr), Judith Ellis (Ellis, MacRae & Associates) and Sylvana Mahmic (Pathways Early Childhood Intervention). Melanie Schlaeger spoke about her experiences with self managed supports, as did parents Wendy Stroeve and Mary Guthrey.
In addition to the full program of speakers, around 15 stalls were run by organisations including CDS, Aftercare, Ability Options, House With No Steps, Lifestyle Solutions and Sunnyfield.
